A part-time tattoo artist, Business Analytics degree student, runner, baker, and a full-time marketer, account director, daughter, friend and the main artist of my own life.

I was born in 1989, in a now-demolished hospital in Singapore, and sometimes when I tried to visualise my life through a cinematic lens, I find myself thinking about “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” I wasn’t born wrinkled and old, but adulthood and responsibilities came rather early, perhaps later than some people, but either way, who’s keeping score? Now, at 37, being less financially restrained and better at earning money, I feel more at ease and less guilty staying curious.

I invest time and money in the things I am curious about, hence the multi-hyphenated part-time identities.

One thing that has really evolved in me which I failed to recognise earlier in life, is the love for freedom and being able to be free. I might have missed those signs as a teenager that the idea of being abstract, non-committal and free, was something that has always spoken to me. I was too distracted with other responsibilities to think about what really made me feel free. Back in Secondary School, my abstract artwork was often displayed in class as the good ones to lookout for - colours, black/white marker work - they always made their way up the display board (we’re not going to talk about my portrait drawings at all).

I’ve come to appreciate life in my 30s, which has led me back to abstract and expressionism, allowing me to embrace life, feelings, people and situations, the way they are. And I seriously feel like Benjamin Button because I’m doing everything I had meant to do when I was younger, just at a slightly later age.

The artworks presented in this space are carefully curated, showcasing my emotions and its flow through unintentional brushwork, as well as whatever you might interpret from it. Each artwork is available as a limited-edition fine-art print, with only five prints produced per work. Every print is numbers, signed and titled.

I hope you find solace in these pieces the way I do. And thank you for allowing me to connect with you in the most unrestricted way.

Love,

Viv
